MLB/NFL Analyst

Ray Flowers has been a full-time fantasy analysist for the last 16 years – who has done that? – spending all his waking hours breaking down baseball, football and even hockey back in the day. For the past seven years, since the first day of the channel, he’s been on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio six days a week spewing opinionated analysis with his co-host Kyle Elfrink on the SiriusXM Fantasy Drive (Sirius 210, XM 87). Known for his analytical approach, Ray eschews pitching and quarterbacks early in drafts and isn’t afraid to predict outcomes that go completely against the grain if the data leads him there. When he’s not slaying Twitter with wondrous responses filled with charm and snark, or winning FSWA Writing Awards, he can be found watching a superhero flick, taking a swim or pounding vodka Red Bull’s into the wee hours of the morning.

 DFS Hitting Breakdown - 4/18
Posted by Ray Flowers on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 - 16:57

A quick primer for the Hitting Coach piece that will appear seven days a week at Guru Elite. There will be a smattering of data, pertinent to setting your daily squad up. There will be ballpark data. Which parks favor what type of hitters? There will be some BvP data, and yes, it does matter. We will try to list some umpire data if there is anything significant to be gleaned from it. In the end, I’ll throw all the data into the hopper and try to come up with some solid daily advice on the men that swing the lumber.

Ray's Ramblings - Pirates' Starling Marte Suspended
Posted by Ray Flowers on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 - 15:35

Marte is a cheater and he's paying the price with 80-games on the sidelines. Will Frazier or Meadows replace him in the Pirates outfield? What's the medical update on the calf of Donaldson? Why are folks so enamored with Conforto despite it seeming like he has no spot in the daily lineup? Is the facade of Souza success already cracking?

STARLING MARTE BUSTED

Starling Marte will not be eligible for the postseason shall the Pirates make it as he’s been suspended 80 games for testing positive for Nandrolone, starting immediately. Un-flipping-believable. Here are the results of his idiotic decision to do PEDs.

Marte’s out for half the season. I know of no league that allows you to put a guy on suspension on the DL so in order to hold him on your roster you’re just going to have to chew up a roster spot. Still, I think in most instances you still have to give serious consideration to keeping him unless you’re in a 10-team mixed league. Brutal.

 Ray's Ramblings - Pitcher Report - 4/18

Boyd has bounced back. Bundy has looked sharp whereas Cobb has not. Harvey is back according to some folks. I don't see that - yet. Kennedy is boring, something I heard all spring. Something I failed to hear enough was that he's a really solid pitcher. Peralta is throwing hard. Should you care? Samardzija isn't performing up to expectations, but there is plenty of success to still be found in that right arm. Senzatela is an arm I just can't seem to get behind. Ditto Shields and Wainwright, though I'm continually enamored with Taillon.

Rich Hill is at it again, and by that I mean he's breaking hearts like Brad Pitt did when he was in high school. Really folks, there's a new term in town, and it's Hillastrous. Who will take over for the Dodgers? Sounds like it won't be Urias. Meanwhile, Maeda continues to list so substantially that there are growing concerns that the ship might fully capsize. He's been awful for a long while. I keep getting Vargas questions. Let me explain to you why that's simply foolish. Who will replace Odorizzi in the Rays' rotation? When will Jose Ross be back in the bigs, and should you care? Finally, did you see Kimbrel blowing cheese past the Rays?
