Tommy G, Founder of Guruelite.com, is as close to a household name as there is in the Daily Fantasy Space, and if you follow him on Twitter (@TommyG) or Instagram (@TommyGDFS), you know he is not your normal fantasy nerd. Tommy spent the majority of his adult life as a Wall Street trader and educator, specializing in technical analysis and and daytrading Futures, but has now taken these analytical skills and applied them to his true passion, fantasy sports, to become one of the most decorated and definitely the most recognized DFS player in the industry. The Godfather, as he is referred to as in the industry, began his DFS career in 2011 and has taken the fantasy world by storm over the past 6 years. Tommy has career winnings well into seven figures, while managing to become one of the first DFS players to break into the mainstream media world, winning the 2015 FSWA Radio Show of the Year Award for his show on SiriusXM Fantasy channel with Jeff Mans. In addition to doing 3 hours a day of radio for the majority of 2016, Tommy also has been featured in countless articles on the DFS industry, including headlining a full page spread in the NY Post titled “The Men Who Make 6 Figures off Fantasy Football.” He also starred as the main character in the first ever Daily Fantasy movie called Living the Fantasy, in addition to being featured in an HBO Real Sports piece regarding the industry with Bryant Gumble, when a watermain break cost Tommy a shot at 1 million dollars. Recently, Tommy has partnered up with Michael Rapaport and Barstool Sports to do a weekly podcast on ITunes called "The Fantasy Football Follies," which in just it's 4th episode, broke the top 10 for Sports Podcasts on iTunes.
Tommy was the first DFS player in the industry to qualify for a live final in all four major sports (MLB, NBA, NFL & NHL) and has a total of 28 live finals appearances under his belt to date. This 2017 MLB season Tommy became the ONLY PERSON, of the millions of people who play daily fantasy, to secure the maximum number of entries into Draftkings and Fanduel's once a year baseball live finals, with a total of 8 entries between the two sites (5 on DK, 3 on FD). He raked in over $300,000 in net winnings between the 2 sites for the 2017 MLB season, securing him as one of the top DFS players in the world for MLB. He then followed that up with a monsterous football season in 2017 where he hit for $183,000 in week 4, qualified for both major Draftkings finals in Florida, and then put a beautiful bow on the season by kncking down 7th place in the Maimi final for another $200,000.
Tommy is a brash and raw personality in the industry, who has a cult like following. As a former daytrader, The Godfather loves risk, and prides himself on his contrarian "all or none" GPP strategies, which have propelled him to multiple $100,000 days in NFL and MLB. After spending the past 4 years working with some of the biggest companies in the industry, Tommy has now founded his own site, Guruelite.com, where he will be joining forces with John Hansen to provide the most hard hitting daily fantasy content around, to pair with FantasyGuru.com’s already epic seasonlong content.
I think this is going to be the shortest write up of the year for Thursday Night slate. As far as Vegas is concerned, this total opened at 46 and has been driven down to 44.5 while Denver has remained a 3pt favorite. This is the second lowest total on the board which is normally an avoid anyway, but the more explosive offense is SD and they are going against a fantastic defense in Denver. On the Denver side of the ball we have question marks at RB and although the receiving options are nice in this matchup, we have a rookie QB with a banged up shoulder...
Guys I think will be very highly owned. These guys tend to be better for Cash and you don’t want to use too many of them in GPPs... a couple is fine... but we need to separate in GPPs. These projections ARE NOT OFFICIAL, they are just my guess-timations. I tend to be very good at projecting ownership, so you can proceed with confidence. Ownership projections are based on DK pricing, since it is the one that is messed up.
- QB: Brady 22%, Ben 20%, Rodgers 10%, Luck 8%
- RB: Howard 35%, Washington 26%, McKinnon 22%, Bell 20%, Gordon/Murray/CJ 12-17%
- WR: AB 30%, Marshall 25%, Edelman 22%, Jordy/ODB/TY/Landry/Enunwa about 15%
- TE: Ertz 20%, Henry 17%, Reed 13%, Miller 10%, Rudolph 9%
- D: NE 20%, Den 15%, Min 15%
This is a game where the Vegas line is far less important than the injuries. The line is saying fade, but even in a low total we normally have a few spots to target, but the injury to Palmer here puts a lot in doubt. Palmer will not be starting tonight so this really hinders the use of the AZ wideouts and also forces us to make some tough calls on David Johnson on a few fronts. SF has gotten shredded on the ground since their opening day demolition of the Rams, allowing 497 yards on the ground in the last 3 games, but with Stanton in at QB I could definitely see them stacking the box to shut down DJ and making Drew beat them. The counter to this point is that SF lost Buckner and Bowman last week so they will be very depleted. I will elaborate more on DJ in the RB section. The other important injuries to monitor in this game are on the SF side of the ball with Kerley and McDonald.
