Tanner Roark disappears into the background with all the stars in Washington. That represents a nice buy-low opportunity for the stable, boring righty of the Nationals...

There’s no debating that Michael Wacha is talented, none. We can start there when reading the book of Wacha. However, there is more to being successful than simply being talented. Wacha has lingering health concerns and the last two seasons his performance in the ratio categories have been far from ideal. Is Wacha a name to roster or a name to avoid in 2018?

Dylan Bundy was supposed to be an ace by now. Injuries have slowed his ascent up the mountain, but he authored a solid effort in 2017 leading to the hope that he might, finally, take that next step in 2018 for the Orioles.

Kenta Maeda owns a 1.15 WHIP and a 9.26 K/9 rate in two seasons in the big leagues, but those facts are lost on at least half the players in the fantasy game. Why does a player, with so many skills, have no respect in the fantasy game? I will try to explain how this situation has arisen below.

He was hurt last season and that’s causing the cost of Marcus Semien to be lower than it likely should be this season. With 20 homer power, and the speed to reach double-digit thefts from the shortstop position, I believe he is someone that more folks should be kicking the tires on.

Though he has never appeared in a big-league game, Scott Kingery is a rich man. The Phillies’ youngster signed a whipping deal with at least $24 million, the biggest contract ever giving to a player who had yet to appear in the big leagues. It’s more than that though as the deal has three options that could total up to $42 million dollars ($13 million in 2024, $14 million in 2025 and $15 million in 2026). That’s potentially $66 million to a guy with no big-league work. Why were the Phillies so willing to pay Kingery that much money and what should be expected in 2018?

When talking up the middle power, you don’t look the way of Kolten Wong. When you talk about up the middle speed, and when the ability to get on base is factored in to the conversation, the spinning wheel should stop on Wong. It rarely does based upon ADP, but I think that might be a mistake to correct in 2018.

 2018 Player Profile: Alex Cobb

Alex Cobb waited, and waited, and waited to get his contract. His patience worked as he ended up with a 4-year, $57 million deal from the Orioles, a huge get in this offseason market where no one is getting paid. What did the Orioles buy with the large investment over the next four seasons? Is Cobb anything other than just an innings eater in 2018?

Chase Anderson was rolling through lineups last season until an oblique injury cost him more than 50 days. The then 29-year-old hurler of the Brewers went from a league average arm to one producing at All-Star levels. How did he do that, and can be counted on to replicate the feat in 2018?
