 Jefe's NBA Rundown - 11/19
Posted by Jeff Collins on Saturday, November 19, 2016 - 17:03

Last night was my worst night of the season (so I imagine it was for some of you too). Some stuff we got unlucky on, but certain things I’ll admit that I just flat out got wrong. We know we’re not going to win every night, but it’s still frustrating to have a night like that. Tonight is a good opportunity for us to bounce back in the same way that Harden bounced back from a bad performance the other night. Let’s get to it...

What's up y'all? This is the one and only RadThad with today's NBA article for Saturday, November 19th. We have a nice 8 game slate today. The games would be well over if I tried to list every juicy pick, so I'll settle for touching on a couple of my favorite plays from each game.

This is a solid game to look at for fantasy purposes. Indiana plays at the tenth fastest pace in the league and will be paced up against the fastest paced Suns. Phoenix averages the seventh most points per game with Indiana back in thirteenth. Phoenix also allows the most points to opponents with Indiana allowing the tenth most. As you can see by the numbers, this favors the offenses to have a good showing against bad defenses in a fast paced game.

New York Knicks @ Washington Wizards

Vegas:

The Knicks are 19th in terms of pace with the Wizards back in 18th. Both are in the bottom ten for scoring with the Knicks at 20th and the Wizards at 22nd. Defensively the Wizards give up the 13th most points with the Knicks at 10th. Overall, this is not the best spot on the day for fantasy upside.

For the Wizards, John Wall is likely to see action for the first time on a back-to-back. He only played 23 minutes yesterday, so I doubt he sits this one out. I do think they continue to monitor his minutes, so while he will produce when on the floor, I do not think he sees enough minutes to give us a big game.

New Orleans Pelicans @ Orlando Magic

Vegas:

I do not think this is the best spot to target on such a large slate. The Pelicans are 8th in terms of pace ahead of the 26th ranked Magic. New Orleans is 19th in scoring, well ahead of the last place Magic they face today. In terms of defense, Orlando is pretty stingy, allowing only the 13th most points overall. In comparison, the Pelicans have given up the fourth most and are one of the worst.

Note: I’m very GPP-focused tonight with the short slate and the way it shapes up.

Point Guard

Paying Up: Damian Lillard -- Looking at the slate as a whole, I’ve identified Lillard as the player that I think has the most upside, so on a short slate like this he’s a main target of mine. It doesn’t make a huge difference, but I kind of want Rondo to play (listed as “questionable”) because he doesn’t play with the energy that it takes to keep up with Lillard. Either way the matchup is positive.

Vegas: Cavaliers -6, O/U: 209

This is a rematch of the Eastern Conference final and the second meeting this season of these two teams. Cleveland plays at the twelfth fastest pace in the league with Toronto back in 24th. The Cavaliers are the third highest scoring team in the league and the Raptors outperform their pace at 13th as well. These two teams are third and fourth respectively in offensive efficiency, which is why they outperform their pace numbers when it comes to scoring. Toronto allows the eighth fewest points and Cleveland is 13th, so both squads are solid defensively.
