 Benny's Daily Hoops - 1/11

Vegas: Knicks -2, O/U: 209

Knicks: 9th Pace, 13th Scoring, 6th Most points allowed

76ers: 13th Pace, 26th Scoring, 9th Most points allowed

Neither of these two teams play good defense, so this is a soft spot for both. The pace is elevated, but not break neck speed too, which should also lead to a decent amount of scoring.

Carmelo Anthony - Still remains a GPP only option for me. Melo is scoring dependent and puts up big games when he scores a lot. When he does not, his return can really sink your lineups. Keep him away from the cash game teams due to his volatility.

Notes: After Melo, it gets a little dicey. You have Rose returning from going AWOL and he has not looked great lately anyway. Porzingis is still getting his shots up, but has been playing below his season averages since returning from injury three games ago. Joakim Noah loses minutes as well with Porzingis back in the fold. Noah and Brandon Jennings have played well lately and that has caused their prices to rise. I am not as high on either of them as I have been in the past few days. I want exposure to the Knicks against the 76ers, but am not really sure where to go to get it here.

 Jefe's NBA Rundown - 1/10
Posted by Jeff Collins on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 - 17:19

As always, the rundown is designed to give you an opinion on some different players or situations in the slate today. You need to be reacting to news throughout the day. Always keep an eye on Twitter for the most up-to-date information. The idea is not that you use ONLY players from this article to build your lineups, but rather all of our content from Benny’s article, to our cheat sheets and videos along with our projections algorithm and optimizer. If you’re trying to only use players under the “cash” section to build your cash lineups for instance, you’re going to have a hard time. Instead, use some of those players as building blocks and fill in around them.

Today’s slate is less about volatility (cash game vs GPP play) and more about capitalizing on getting as much value (highest point per dollar players) into your lineups. That’s because there’s just a ton of value out there and we can’t sacrifice any points in order to get safety.

Point Guard

Spending up: I think people are having a hard time processing Thomas priced higher than guys like Curry and Irving, but the numbers this year have backed it up. With Bradley out for this game, that’s an added boost as well. Klay Thompson has been ruled out for Golden State, and actually takes more shots than anyone else on the team. Look for Curry and Durant especially to take advantage of the extra shots.

Chicago Bulls @ Washington Wizards

Vegas:

Bulls: 23rd Pace, 23rd Scoring, 6th Fewest points allowed

Wizards: 14th Pace, 14th Scoring, 9th Fewest points allowed

The Bulls are in a tough spot here. Dwayne Wade is likely to sit on the tail end of this back-to-back. He traveled with the team, but will probably sit out. Jimmy Butler tried to gut it out last night, but he was visibly ill and did not have his “A” game. It looks like Butler might be out today. That means the Bulls are going to get big minutes from guys like Jerian Grant, Michael Carter-Williams, and Doug McDermott today. All three are pretty cheap and should see big minutes. Robin Lopez is playing like garbage lately and Taj Gibson lacks upside. The only other Bull worth a look is Nikola Mirotic, but I am concerned the Bulls lay down and die on the road here against the Wizards.

This is just a short article today since obviously we’re only dealing with three games and there’s not much to talk about. We’ll be back with deeper articles, videos, and cheat sheets starting tomorrow. I recommend making this a lighter day than usual since there isn’t a big edge in three game slates. Luckily this is the smallest slate of the year (because of the National Championship game), so this is a rare thing.

Point Guard

Russell Westbrook is clearly the top option of the slate from a raw points perspective and is a pretty tough fade tonight. The position isn’t as deep as it usually is, plus getting the guy that is by far the most likely to end the night with the most fantasy points is usually the way to go on these short slates.

 Benny's Daily Hoops - 1/9

So tonight is only a three game slate for NBA for some reason. I am not going to be playing it very heavy to be honest. A lot of times these small slates have a ton of roster overlap and the difference between cashing highly and missing the money altogether is normally one or two players, so be sure to look a little deeper at every play you decide to use today. Some people like these small slates more. I am not one of those people, but I understand the idea behind people liking these more. Do not let me talk you out of your normal routine if you consider yourself a small slate specialist. I just know where I have done well and struggled and my numbers are better when the slates have 6-9 games.

 Benny's Daily Hoops - 1/8 (Late Slate)
Posted by Benny Ricciardi on Sunday, January 8, 2017 - 11:12

Note: The Detroit /Portland game was rescheduled from last night and is not included on the late slates for NBA on DK, but I think it is over on FanDuel. This could lead to a lot of those guys going lower owned, but it is not an ideal matchup for the Blazers against a slower paced defensive team. It is however a great spot for the Pistons and guys like Reggie Jackson, Andre Drummond, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are very interesting plays and should be used heavily by us in tournaments if others will forget about them since the game is not available on DK. Point Guard Eric Bledsoe - I expect the Suns to get stomped by the Cavaliers today, but I also expect a big game from their best player in Bledsoe. Kyrie is a weak defender and Bledsoe has been good on the offensive end all season. Elfrid Payton - Point guard against the Lakers is a thing we always want to attack. Elf has been playing better and putting up some nice scores. I am willing to go back to him today, but he is still a tournament only pay.

 Benny's Daily Hoops - 1/8 (Early Slate)
Posted by Benny Ricciardi on Sunday, January 8, 2017 - 10:06

This is a shit show today for NBA. Games go off all day long and I hate playing all day slates without news for the late games and lineups locking at noon. The slates are all staggered on the different sites as well, so some games are included in one and not the other and vice versa. I will do a write up for the early slate here and a late slate one closer to noon. Point Guard TJ McConnell - It looks like Sergio Rodriguez is out again, so TJ McConnell should get another game with 30+ minutes and end up with over 30 fantasy points. The problem today is the price has jumped up huge, so we are not getting him at a dirt-cheap price anymore. He does have the best matchup possible against Brooklyn though, so that would make up for it. This position is stacked today in the early slate, as you also have Giannis Antetokounmpo and John Wall taking on each other in what should be a game that features a lot of points. You also have Kyle Lowry going up against a Houston Rockets team that gives up a ton of points. I am not worried too much about Patrick Beverley slowing him down and I think all those guys are in play.
