Harden is priced around $12K, so we need a monster game. He has a safe 50-60 point floor and upside into the triple digits. He has proven to be matchup proof, so the slow pace...

 Jefe's NBA Rundown - 1/5
Posted by Jeff Collins on Thursday, January 5, 2017 - 17:19

As always, the rundown is designed to give you an opinion on some different players or situations on the slate today. You need to be reacting to news throughout the day. Always keep an eye on Twitter for the most up-to-date information. The idea is not that you use ONLY players from this article to build your lineups, but rather all of our content from Benny’s article, to our cheat sheets and videos along with our projections algorithm and optimizer. If you’re trying to only use players under the “cash” section to build your cash lineups, you’re going to have a hard time. Instead, use some of those players as building blocks and fill in around them...

Brooklyn Nets @ Indiana Pacers

Vegas: Pacers -10, O/U: 219

Nets: Fastest Pace, 13th Scoring, most points allowed

Pacers: 10th Pace, 16th Scoring, 10th Most points allowed

The Nets are really not a good team right now. A lot of guys are seeing a lot of minutes, but producing very little with them. Sean Kilpatrick is too expensive for what he has given us lately, although the matchup is not horrible. Isaiah Whitehead is playing big minutes, but the production is not enough either. With RHJ out, Bojan should see more minutes, but he too has underperformed. If I use anyone here it is Brook Lopez and Trevor Booker. Lopez has not been great, but this is a great matchup for big men. They have done very well against the Pacers. Booker is a cheap option in a good spot with double-double potential. The Nets are playing with some injuries right now, so the minutes load is up across the board.

Atlanta Hawks @ Orlando Magic

Vegas: Hawks -3.5, O/U: 205.5

Hawks: 7th Pace, 21st Scoring, 14th fewest points allowed

Magic: 21st Pace, 24th Scoring, 12 fewest points allowed

This is a very tricky spot to look at here. The Hawks face a Magic team that pays slow and does not allow a ton of points, but they are coming off a game against a San Antonio team who plays slower and allows fewer points. They played very well in that one, although the game did go into OT, so that may be the reason for the outsized production. The Hawks have quite a few guys playing well lately though. Dwight Howard and Paul Millsap have put up big numbers. Millsap is back to being the consistent 40+ point cash game staple and Howard always goes lower owned than he should. Dennis Schroeder has been great at the point for the Hawks. He is a 32-42 point a game player and his price is back in the range where that works out well for him. Even Kyle Korver and Tim Hardaway have been producing over the last few games at the expense of guys like Bazemore and Sefolosha. Trying to figure out the wing situation in Atlanta is dicey, but Korver is playing a lot of minutes for a dirt cheap price and is the one I am most interested in.

Minnesota Timberwolves @ Philadelphia 76ers

Vegas: Timberwolves -4.5, O/U: 203

Timberwolves: 22nd Pace, 19th Scoring, 12th Most points allowed

76ers: 13th Pace, 25th Scoring, 8th Most points allowed

Karl Anthony-Towns - The big KAT had 43 fantasy points in a 20 point blowout the first time these two met, but he did play a decent amount of minutes there. The price is higher now, but he is also playing at a higher level. Towns is a tough matchup for any big man. He can step outside, go to the hole, or hit a jumper. Centers have performed well against the 76ers and expect this to continue.

Joel Embiid - I also like the center on the other side of this game. Embiid performs when he plays. He is up to about 28 minutes and he is averaging just shy of 1.5 fantasy points per minute. 40 is a solid expectation for him in this matchup and that is right around where he should be at the price.

As always, the rundown is designed to give you an opinion on some different players or situations in the slate today. You need to be reacting to news throughout the day. Always keep an eye on Twitter for the most up-to-date information. Point Guard Cash: Westbrook, Brogdan, Wall, Rivers, GPP: Westbrook, Brogdan, Rivers, Curry, Rose, Jennings Notes: Westbrook’s price continues to fall, making him more and more tempting each slate. He’s very much in play in both cash and GPP games tonight on both sites, but I always prefer him a little more on FanDuel where the roster construction favors more of a stars and scrubs approach than DraftKings. Malcolm Brogdon appears to be the real deal and coming off of a triple-double, and even the fickle Jason Kidd would seemingly be locking him into solid minutes. I think Stephen Curry is one of the better high-risk, high-reward tourney plays tonight at his price. It will be the Brandon Jennings show for New York if Melo and Porzingis are ruled out, making him one of the better plays on the board.

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Milwaukee Bucks

Vegas: Bucks -2, O/U: 211

Thunder: 7th Pace, 8th Scoring, 13th Most points allowed

Bucks: 19th Scoring, 15th Pace, 9th fewest points allowed

Russell Westbrook - When Westbrook doesn’t get tossed out of the game, his floor is 60 and we have seen him go for 80+ a few times recently. In his last seven full games, he has not scored fewer than 61 fantasy points. He also has a 70 point and 2 80 point games along the way. He is over $12K on both sites, so even 60 is not really a monster game. He is always in play in tournaments, but I am not sure I like the rosters I build around him in cash at the price.

Giannis Antetokounmpo - Giannis is cheaper than Westbrook by about 20% and his floor is more along the lines of 50, which is 20% below the floor Westbrook has. On DK I prefer to take the savings here and on FD where he is a SG, I like using him as one of my top options today against the suspect point guard defense of OKC in a paced up game.

DET -5.0 TOT: 195.5 Favorite Play: Leuer (FD), Drummond (DK) Others: Reggie Jackson, Tobias Harris Notes: Dragic and Whiteside both questionable. You could look to Tyler Johnson and Josh Richardson if Dragic is ruled out, and Willie Reed if Whiteside can’t go. Otherwise, it’s a tough matchup for the Heat.
