 Portugal Masters Preview - 9/19
Posted by Taras Pitra on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 - 10:24

OVERVIEW

Dom Pedro is an Arnold Palmer resort course that should lend itself to many birdies again this year. The course is exposed to the elements if there are any to speak of that week. If the wind doesn’t blow, these guys will absolutely smash this course as we’ve seen the past three years or so.

OVERVIEW

The grand finale is finally here! Everything that these guys have been playing for ($10,000,000) rears its head this week as the PGA Tour heads to Atlanta, GA and East Lake Golf Club. The field consists of the top thirty players in the FedEx Cup playoffs, which means there is no cut this week.

OVERVIEW

The KLM Open returns to The Dutch again this year, along with one of the defending champions from the last two years – Romain Wattel. Joost Luiten injured his wrist awhile back and isn’t at a place in his rehab to tee it up this week (his home Open).

Omega Euro Masters Preview - 9/5
Posted by Taras Pitra on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 - 03:29

OVERVIEW

The Omega European Masters offers us a fairly strong field (as far as Euro Tour regulars go) as well as a fairly straight forward process for building rosters this week. Scott Hend has been an annual contender here the past two years, only to lose his grip on the lead and eventually losing in playoffs to Fitzpatrick & Noren.

Golfer Review

For this section, I’ll list my favorite players at different price points to consider for tournaments (GPP’s).

>$11,000

  • Justin Thomas ($11,400 DK / $12,000 FD): 30% exposure – Rinse and repeat with JT this week, and every week going forward. He’s strong in all facets and I’m sure another $10MM is enough of a motivator to keep the foot on the pedal. If he wins the FedEx Cup again, he’d be the first to win it back to back and second to win two.

Made in Denmark Preview - 8/28
Posted by Taras Pitra on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 - 14:00

After years of play at Himmerland Golf Club, the Made In Denmark moves to a new location this year and will be played at Silkeborg Ry Golfklub in, yep, you guessed it – Denmark. The winners listed below are irrelevant to this week since this is the first time the event has been held here, so don’t put too much stock in former winners. One item of note is this new course is the home course for Ryder Cup Captain Thomas Bjorn, and as luck would have it, it’s the last week before he has to make his captain’s picks for the team. The course is a tree-lined forestlands course with undulating doglegging fairways, and hazards – both dry and wet. The four Par 5’s will make even the shortest of hitters lick their chops off the tee as they all come in under 600 yards (540, 558, 538 & 553). We should see a ton of scoring this week, I think, which makes me want to throw a bit more money at EURO golf than I normally do. The weather looks fine as of writing as expected temps are in the 60’s and 70’s and only a small chance of rain, but nothing to concern us too much.

 Dell Technologies Preview - 8/28
Posted by Taras Pitra on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 - 13:49

Week 2 of the FedEx Cup playoffs is here as we travel northeast to TPC Boston. The course is fairly tough as it ranked 28th out of 50 courses last year, but looking at the scores from the last five years leads me to believe these guys won’t have any issues with it. Three par 5’s this week means we should see some good looks at birdies, and possibly eagles (especially on the 18th hole which ranked the easiest of all 18 holes last year and yielded 17 eagles over four rounds). There were actually five eagles on the 17th hole as well last year, which is a high risk, high reward par 4.

  • Justin Thomas ($11,200 DK/$11,800 FD): 30% exposure – JT just gets it done week in and week out, especially when he’s in form. He won the Dell Technologies last year, beating out his good friend (who he’s better than) and I think we see some more wins out of JT before Jordan gets his next. His OTT + APP + Putting is a deadly combination to have which is exactly why he’s a core play this week.
