Golfer Review

For this section, I’ll list five players at different price points to consider for tournaments (GPP’s).

>$11,000

  • Dustin Johnson ($11,700 DK / $12,400 FD): 30% exposure – DJ is one of my favorite plays this week. His US Open short-term form is elite and his game translates well to any type of setup, especially one that resembles links golf. DJ’s accuracy and length off the tee shortens the course tremendously, as long as he’s hitting his spots. If he can play fairly mistake free like he did at Oakmont, he should claim his second US Open.

 US Open Preview

The year’s second major is upon us as we head to New York to play the US Open. Shinnecock has held four previous editions and the winners all have one thing in common – ball striking. I’d consider the course a less than driver course, even with the yardage, as most of these players will holster their drivers, opting for the accuracy of 3 woods and driving irons leaving them longer approaches into the greens versus potentially hitting it into the tall fescue and thick rough which will force them to pitch back out to the fairway for their approach to the green.

Tambo's Tee Time - St. Jude Classic

Strategy for this week

This week was the qualifying tournaments for the U.S. Open next week, so a lot of guys already played 36 holes on Monday and many have since WD from this tournament this week. Big names, such as; Adam Scott, Keegan Bradley, Russell Knox, Beau Hossler just to name a few. With that said, I am looking to roll with a much smaller pool this week than last and will try and get over-exposed to the guys I think have great scoring ability, along with upside to win here! The key this week is discipline. I’ll be playing 75 lineups instead of 150 and using a much smaller pool than usual, as mentioned. This doesn’t mean more chalk! This means mixing up all the plays I believe to be the VERY BEST ones only while taking stands on other, more chalkier spots.

Brooks Koepka ($11,100 DK / $12,400 FD): 30% exposure – Brooks took last week off, and I’m guessing he did that on purpose leading into the US Open to make sure he’s fresh for his title defense. Ironically, he’s played extremely well here until last year where he bombed out with a 37thplace finish prior to winning the US Open at Erin Hills. Prior to that, he had gone 19th– 3rd– 2ndmaking him an obvious look for all formats this week.

Formerly known as the Lyoness Open, this week’s Euro Tour stop is a new event with new rules on a familiar course. First the course; Diamond CC, long links-type course that’s exposed to windy conditions and is considered a “tough and good challenge” (I feel like we’ve heard that literally every week on this tour).

Congrats to those who backed Bryson last week. This week we head to Tennessee for the St. Jude Classic at TPC Southwind – a course that features tough-to-hit fairways, and Bermuda greens.

DraftKings/FanDuel

>$10,000

  • Jason Day ($11,100 DK/$12,500 FD): 20-30% exposure – Day’s history here is very well known as being horrendous even with his “Ohio ties”, but the course-to-game fit seems to point in his direction and even though I can’t stand seeing Dash get as much attention as Jason, I can see him playing well here again as last year was his best finish in this event. He’s in play in all formats until further notice.

 Italian Open Preview - 5/29
Posted by Taras Pitra on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 - 15:59

This week we have a new course in the rotation for the Italian Open. Gardagolf Country Club is a typical tree-lined fairways country club that most of us are used to here in the states with the exception of being in the beautiful Italy, with Lake Garda in the background.
