MLB DG: What is Triple ERA?

I try to offer takes that are helpful, yet simple. Too many folks in the industry attempt to deal with the public in a manner that assumes one has a degree in higher mathematics or linguistics. All the acronyms and convoluted equations can lead to powerful conclusions, but they're also hard as all get out to understand. My take is that it doesn’t do you any good to write something no one understands. What follows is a simplistic way to look at a couple of pitching measures based on a continuum that you all fully understand – earned run average.

We all know ERA as it, wins and strikeouts were what our parents taught us about pitching.

Last season the league ERA was 4.36, the highest it has been since 2009.
